Streetlife was founded and still owned by DJ Tony Winyard, AKA Eskie, an extremely experienced DJ having worked in clubs all over the world, and also performed mobile-discos at events such as wedding receptions, civil partnership ceremonies, birthday parties, corporate events, Christmas parties, Product promotion, MC for fashion shows, etc.

Music Database

Music from the 1920's to the very latest releases, covering a huge range of music genre's.
(this section is only updated a couple of times a year so although I always have current chart hits this database sometimes may be a few weeks/months out of date when it comes to listing current chart hits).

Some of the most frequently asked questions received from prospective clients before they book Streetlife Sounds

Whatever type of function it is that you're planning, the right music can play a very important part in the success of the event.

Good events will be remembered many years from now. If you think back of great nights you've had in the past from 5, 10 even 20 years ago; for many people one of the factors that contributed most to the success of the night was the entertainment. Most people will place little importance to their enjoyment of the night on details such as how the room was decorated, the flower arrangements etc but they will remember how much fun they had.

The quality of the entertainment determines the success of your function. It may sound corny, but great entertainment makes the food taste better, the flowers look fresher and prettier and the venue looks grander. Why? because great music enables your guests to enjoy themselves and everything is better when you're having fun.

Sadly, there are many people who have found out the hard way of how significant the entertainment is in determining the success of a function. Unfortunately any clown can go and buy a couple of CD players, some lights and a few 'Now' CD's and then advertise themselves as a DJ!

Many people have thought they were getting a bargain when the DJ ONLY charged them £200, they then got more than they bargained for when on the actual night often one of three scenarios occurred:
1. The DJ didn't turn up!
2. He brought lots of shiny new equipment and his collection of 6 'Now' compilation CD's!
3. He was on an ego trip and was only interested in playing his favourite songs and trying to 'educate' your guests into 'better' music!

End result = The host saved themselves a little money but had what should have been a very special occasion ruined for them and their guests. For years to come instead of having happy memories of the night they'll try to block it out of their memories.. all because they booked an inexperienced or cowboy DJ!

Then you need to book Streetlife.
However, if the most important factor to you is the lowest possible price? If the answer to this is yes, then you need to look elsewhere, as the old saying goes; if you pay peanuts you'll get Monkeys!
There are plenty of DJs around who are far cheaper than me but there are few who are better.

My main strength is my ability to 'read the crowd' and know the most appropriate track to play next. I continuously watch the guests at any event that I do to gauge their reactions to every song played.
My show contains the latest sound & lighting equipment (which is gone into in more detail on the Equipment page).

There are few DJ's in the UK with a better ability to play the right music for the guests at the right time. It's all very well bringing a lighting show that would light up the moon or sound system that could be heard five miles away, but neither of these will keep guests dancing all night. My vast music knowledge which covers a huge range of genre's of music, coupled with my extensive DJ experience, constantly result in a busy dancefloor all night where ever I work and I can say without hesitation that there isn't a DJ anywhere who is better at that than me (unless of course for example we're talking about Swiss yodel music for a wedding in the Alps!).

Types of functions covered

It is very important before booking any DJ, to check whether their equipment has P.A.T. (Portable Appliance Test) certificates and whether they possess P.L.I.(Public Liability Insurance) These are just two of the items which separate professional DJ's from the many cowboys around. Another is a contract system. Every booking I take is only confirmed after the following procedure: I send a booking form to the client. The client then signs this form and return one copy with a 25% advanced payment. The client keeps the 2nd copy of this form, which lists all the terms & conditions.

Set-up

It usually takes me around 45 minutes to set up my equipment, and so I will usually arrive at the venue at least 1 hour before the performance time is scheduled to commence.

Music

Dress Code

Is usually black tie or smart-casual, you can click on the links for examples of both. After confirming the booking you will receive a link to a Planning Form, this form contains a section where you can specify which is most appropriate for your event.
