Information on Streetlife P.A.T. (Portable Appliance Testing) & P.L.I. (Public Liability Insurance)...

All of my equipment is annually tested to the current HSE 'Electricity At Work' regulations (1989) and have P.A.T. certificates for each item. This is a standard requirement at many venues now, especially the more prestigious venues and hotel chains.

You will get a good indication of the professionalism of a DJ by their attitude to these two areas as neither are yet mandatory. Before booking any DJ, ask whether their equipment has P.A.T. certificates and whether they possess P.L.I.


PLI is not yet a legal requirement for entertainers but it certainly is common sense and gives peace of mind should an accident occur. I have £10million in PLI cover).
