Cripps Barn- Cotswolds Wedding DJ
A Barn with a Backstory — and Buckets of Charm
Set deep in the Coln Valley near Bibury, Cripps Barn is everything you'd want from a Cotswold wedding venue. Rustic stone walls, weathered beams, and a roaring fireplace — it's got that warm, earthy romance that couples fall for instantly.
Originally built in the 19th century to thresh wheat and store grain, the barn's been part of the Cripps family working farm for generations. But in the late '90s, it began a second life. Weddings started in 1999, and since then it's hosted hundreds — each one wrapped in the venue's unique character.
The Cripps family managed something rare: preserving the soul of the original barn while adding space, style, and comfort. Today, it welcomes up to 250 guests across its various spaces, and still somehow feels intimate.
Inside the Venue: What Makes Cripps Barn Work
Cripps Barn isn't just good-looking — it's cleverly put together. Here's why it works so well:
- The Main Barn – solid stone, flagstone floors, exposed beams, open fire, medieval chandelier — full rustic grandeur
- The Oak Room – light, airy, perfect for dining and smaller ceremonies
- Outdoor Pavilion – set in a woodland glade for alfresco vows under the trees
- The Party Setup – late licence 'til 1am, and a main barn that transforms into a brilliant dancefloor
- The Food – in-house chefs cooking over open flames (yes please)
- Surroundings – rolling countryside, gorgeous for photos, with space to breathe
It's not just a pretty place. It's a well-oiled machine that still feels full of heart.
Lauren & Aaron's Wedding: A Day to Remember
I had the pleasure of being part of Lauren and Aaron's wedding at Cripps Barn — and from start to finish, it was a joy.
They weren't after flash. They wanted warmth, connection, and a real sense of them. Cripps Barn gave us the perfect canvas.
The Right Energy, From Start to Finish
As their Master of Ceremonies, I helped guide the flow of the day — blending humour, elegance and a few cheeky moments to keep things moving without it ever feeling forced.
One of the standout moments? Delivering their personalised Love Story during the meal. It's always a joy to tell, but in a venue like Cripps, with that glowing barn ambiance and the gentle murmur of happy guests, it landed beautifully. Laughter. A few tears. And a shared moment that brought everyone in.
The Evening Vibe: Big Energy, No Cheese
Lauren and Aaron had eclectic music tastes — a mix of cultures, decades, and genres. So we created a soundtrack that honoured all of it.
From ceremony to drinks to dinner, every part had its own tone.
Then the evening kicked off, and the barn lit up — literally and musically. I'd brought in custom lighting that enhanced the rustic charm without overpowering it.
The dancefloor? Full. Inclusive. Joyful. No cheesy fillers. Just tracks that kept people moving, mingling and smiling. The Mr & Mrs game added a fun twist before the serious dancing began — and it worked a treat.
What the Couple Had to Say
"Tony wasn't just a DJ; he was the heartbeat of our wedding… His Love Story narration was magical, and his coordination with other vendors made everything seamless. The energy and joy Tony brought was unforgettable. An absolute must for any couple looking for a bespoke, joyous celebration."
— Lauren & Aaron
Why Cripps Barn + a Great DJ Is a Winning Combo
What makes Cripps Barn special — its natural flow, indoor/outdoor flexibility, and laid-back feel — is exactly what I love working with.
You don't need gimmicks here. You just need:
- Thoughtful music curation
- Seamless transitions
- A host who knows when to speak and when to let the moment breathe
- Lighting and sound that complement the venue, not clash with it
- And someone who can read the room and keep things feeling alive — start to finish
That's what I brought to Lauren and Aaron's day. And it's what I'd love to bring to yours.
