Champneys Tring

Some venues feel like they were built for a quiet, considered celebration, and Champneys Tring is one of them. A French-styled mansion set in 170 acres of Hertfordshire parkland, it was once a Rothschild family home and is now one of the best known spa resorts in the country. The Crystal Room

The Crystal Room is the heart of the mansion and the room most couples build their day around. It seats up to 56 for a wedding breakfast, holds around 120 standing for the evening, and offers theatre-style seating for up to 100 for a ceremony.

The height, the hard surfaces and those big windows create natural reverb, which is gorgeous for atmosphere but can blur speeches if the setup is rushed. Not every celebration needs the full Crystal Room, and the mansion flexes well. The Stanley Lief Room is a private space for up to 40, decorated in keeping with the heritage of the house, traditional furnishings and original features intact. The Music Room and Morning Room suit smaller gatherings and pre-dinner drinks, with views out over the gardens. For couples planning something more intimate, or for a quieter ceremony followed by a larger evening in the Crystal Room, these rooms give you room to shape the flow of the day rather than forcing everything into one space.

The Grounds and the Spa

The 170 acres of parkland are the reason the approach feels so grand. Sweeping lawns and mature trees give you photographs in every direction and every season, and in summer drinks and canapes spill out from the Crystal Room terrace onto the grounds. What sets Champneys apart from most wedding venues, though, is the spa. With around 90 bedrooms on site, most of your party can stay over, and the marine and wellness spa is there the morning after. It turns a single day into something closer to a weekend, and it means nobody is rushing for a taxi at midnight.

Champneys Tring sits near Wigginton, just outside Tring, with Tring station and good links to London, Luton and the M1 making it easy for guests to reach. There is free parking on site, which keeps arrivals and load-in straightforward, and with bedrooms on the estate a large part of your party will not need to drive at all.
