Sopwell House is a family-owned Georgian country house hotel tucked into 12 acres of tranquil gardens in St Albans. Once the residence of Lord Mountbatten, it carries a sense of occasion without being stuffy. The St Alban Suite handles up to 280 guests with a built-in dance floor and stage (which makes my job considerably easier), while a marquee option pushes capacity to 500 for larger celebrations. With 129 rooms on site, a dedicated spa, and just 20 minutes to London St Pancras, it ticks every practical box while still feeling like a proper escape.
